BMW M4 - Enhancement Detail - Feynlab Ceramic
Updated: Dec 15, 2018
This BMW M4 was in for a 2-stage Enhancement Detail with wheels off so the barrels could be properly cleaned and coated, and arches cleaned thoroughly. The boot lid did need a little more attention as it had heavier scratches so a 3-stage machine polish was performed there.
Duration: 3 Days
Main Coating: Feynlab Ceramic & Top Coat
Durability: 3 Years
Firstly, each corner was jacked up and wheels removed so they could be fully cleaned and decontaminated. With the wheels off, the wheel arches could also be cleaned thoroughly.
With wheels and arches cleaned it was onto the safe wash and chemical decontamination, I used; Feynlab Pure Wash, KKD Citrus Magic, KKD Tar-Tastic, KKD Iron Rain and Feynlab Wash. Once this was finished the car was dried with the appropriate microfibre drying towels and moved into the workshop.
To finish off the decontamination process the car was clay barred with Bilt Hamber soft clay and lubricated with Feynlab Prime. The wheels, trims and other recesses were blown out with hot filtered air ready for the 2-stage machine polish. For the cutting stage I used the new KKD Storm burgundy pad with Feynlab F100 Heavy Cut Compound apart from the boot lid which required some extra cutting, I used KKD Storm White pad with F100 then went back over it with the burgundy pad. Many hours later.... I refined with Koch Chemie M2.02 and a Liquid Elements Orange pad.
The wheels were once again removed and wiped down with U-pol slow degreaser along with the calipers ready for an application of KKD R-evolve X. The arch liners were coated with KKD Trim X via airbrush and calipers coated with KKD R-evolve X. With the ceramic on the wheels, they were put back on and tightened to the manufacturers torque settings.
Before I could apply Feynlab Ceramic, the car was wiped down with U-pol slow degreaser. This removes any residues left from the machine polishing so the ceramic can bond directly to the applied surface. Temperature and humidity checked and on with the ceramic.

Once applied, I have to wait at least an hour before Feynlab Top Coat can be applied. During this time the exterior windows were coated, windscreen with Gtechniq G1 and all other glass with G5. The plastics including front and rear lights were coated with Feynlab Plastic. The hour had passed and I could now apply Feynlab Top coat. With all coatings applied, it was time for the IR lamps. Each panel was baked for 15 minutes at around 60 degrees.
A vacuum, interior glass cleaned with KKD Krystal Klear and tyres dressed with KKD Tyresol and this stunning M4 was complete. One last check over and another night stay , It was ready for collection.
